Environmental Management

Recognizing the influence that our projects can have on the biodiversity of the areas in which we operate, we develop environmental management strategies that go beyond legal requirements.

Through initiatives such as rescue, reforestation and/or regeneration programs, we create benefits for communities and stakeholders in our project's areas of influence.

The four environmental risk management pillars on which our environmental strategy is structured are:

Biodiversity Protection

As part of our commitment to preserve endemic species in the areas where we operate, for when the case applies we implement programs such as:

Rescue and relocation of native wildlife

Compensation for wetland benefits

Reforestation and landscaping

Composting of vegetal residues from land clearing

Ecological and environmental education and diffusion

In our projects we apply and execute environmental actions using state-of-the-art technology, with the objective of reducing and counteracting the impact of our ecological footprint.

In addition to the modifications performed, and to comply with local regulations, we satisfy EDGE® Certification standards in the pre-operational phase and are aligned with Murano Global Hospitality's environmental management system, which is essentially based on the Equator Principles.

In this regard, we aspire to have our properties aligned with EDGE® Certification. The certification process involves two evaluation phases: the Design phase and the Construction phase.

In the initial phase, the design team, in collaboration with an EDGE specialist, reviews and improves the project with the objective of achieving a 20% reduction in energy, water and material consumption. The project is registered on the corresponding platform and all necessary documentation is prepared. After the information has been provided, the EDGE auditor reviews the project and arranges for the Preliminary Design Phase Certification.

In the second phase, any modifications to the project are recorded and the documentation related to the work is submitted. A specialized EDGE auditor makes a site visit to verify the information and then prepares a report that leads to the process of obtaining EDGE® Certification. Once the requirements are satisfied, the building owner receives a certificate indicating the levels of savings achieved, highlighting as a leader in the field of sustainable construction.

Resource Management

At Murano Global Hospitality we seek to promote energy efficiencies and the use of state-of-the-art technology in order to reduce the impact derived from the use of fossil energy and, thus, contribute to a reduction in the level of greenhouse gas emissions and other gases.

We have a responsible management in the use of water resources and waste generation, with a focus on self-sustainability in obtaining and treating natural resources (water) and the waste generated to cause the least possible environmental impact during development, construction and operation.

In order to guarantee the preservation of the areas, we select suppliers that prove, under standards, policies and programs, to be responsible with the environment, with the purpose of influencing with good practices in members of the company's value chain.

Our Solid, Liquid and Hazardous Waste programs aim to guide the proper management of all solid waste, product of the execution and operation of the projects, with the purpose of contributing to the reduction of environmental pollution, accidents of sanitary risk and the costs derived from waste management; through proper identification, management and final disposal of waste generated in the complexes. In this way, we seek to provide a quality, efficient and safe service to guests and collaborators.
